Kazakhstan’s Deputy Minister of Transport, Satzhan Ablaliyev, has been dismissed from his post, the government’s press service told Nur.kz.

Ablaliyev’s profile has also been removed from the “Structure” section of the Ministry of Transport’s official website, which now lists only two other deputies to Minister Nurlan Sauranbayev — Maksat Kaliakparov and Talgat Lastaev.

Ablaliyev had served as deputy minister since October 2023. Prior to that, he was deputy akim (governor) of North Kazakhstan Region and held senior roles in the Committee for Highways.

In early August, Kazakhstan’s National Security Committee (KNB) reported the arrest of a deputy transport minister on suspicion of accepting a bribe. While the KNB did not disclose the official’s name, information circulated online identifying the individual as Satzhan Ablaliyev. He is currently in custody.

As Tengrinews.kz reports, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov had recently criticized relevant ministries for poor oversight of customs operations and for delays in repairing highway checkpoints on the borders with Russia and Kyrgyzstan.

Bektenov ordered the heads of the State Revenue Committee and the Committee for Highways to be disciplined for “failing to properly organize operations.” He also dispatched Finance Minister Madi Takiyev and Transport Minister Nurlan Sauranbayev — whose ministries oversee these committees — to supervise the situation on site.
