The Uzbek government has introduced temporary restrictions on gas stations due to a sharp increase in energy demand caused by colder weather, the Ministry of Energy announced.
According to the ministry, daily natural gas consumption has risen by 20%, and electricity usage has increased by 15% compared to the previous week.
To ensure stable energy supplies for households and social facilities during the cold spell, more than 1,600 special teams have been deployed by electricity and gas supply companies. These teams are working around the clock and are equipped with vehicles and spare parts to promptly address any malfunctions.
Despite the gas transport system operating at full capacity, increased consumption has led to reduced pressure in pipelines. The government has prioritized supplying natural gas to households and critical social facilities, such as hospitals, schools, and universities.
Regional and district administrations will provide regular updates on gas station operations through official channels. Citizens can also track gas station information online using the “Auto24” app.
The Ministry of Energy noted that due to the restrictions on gas stations, the volume of gasoline traded on the stock market will temporarily double. The ministry assured that all regions are adequately supplied with gasoline reserves, and the government is closely monitoring consumer demand to prevent shortages.
Authorities have urged private gas station owners not to inflate prices and to maintain proper quality and quantity of gasoline. Task forces are actively monitoring the situation on-site to prevent unwarranted price increases.
ℹ️ In mid-November, during a meeting with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, it was announced that 21 billion cubic meters of gas would be supplied to consumers during the winter season. An additional reserve has been allocated to ensure uninterrupted energy supplies for social institutions and enterprises. A targeted delivery system for natural gas has been established for thermal power plants, chemical and metallurgical enterprises, and gas stations.
