Karzhaubai Nuryimov, the father of Sherzat Bolat, who was murdered in the city of Talgar, has been sentenced to 15 days of administrative detention. The Almaty Region Court confirmed the decision, Tengrinews.kz reports.

The Yenbekshikazakh District Court found Nuryimov guilty of violating Article 434, Part 1 («Minor Hooliganism») of Kazakhstan’s Code of Administrative Offenses. The charges included public use of offensive language and aggressive behavior towards law enforcement officers. His actions were deemed disrespectful to the public and disruptive to public order.

Nuryimov’s cousin, Bakhyt, was also sentenced to 15 days of detention for inciting protests. As a non-citizen of Kazakhstan, she is set to be deported after serving her sentence. Another relative, Saltanat, was fined 20 monthly calculation indices (approximately 74,000 tenge or $144) for disorderly conduct.

Karzhaubai Nuryimov was detained on December 10 during the funeral of Nurganat Gaepbaev, the uncle of the slain teenager. Police stated that Nuryimov exhibited aggressive behavior and threatened those in attendance. According to KazTag, he climbed onto a truck during the funeral and demanded to speak with journalists.

Sixteen-year-old Sherzat Bolat was killed on the night of October 4 near his family’s grocery store. According to relatives, the conflict began over a can of beer that a customer refused to pay for. Sherzat and his uncle intervened to support Karzhaubai Nuryimov, who was working at the store that evening. The customer called acquaintances to the store, who beat the teenager and his uncle before stabbing Sherzat fatally.

On October 12, unknown individuals set fire to the Bolat family’s home, which was unoccupied at the time. To prevent further unrest, the Ministry of Internal Affairs deployed National Guard troops to the area.

Eleven suspects have been detained in connection with the teenager’s murder. Local residents speculated that members of the organized crime group Khutorskie might be involved, though the Ministry of Internal Affairs has denied the group's existence.

The high-profile case has led to the dismissal of several local officials and law enforcement leaders. Former Deputy Interior Minister Aidos Rysbayev, dismissed during the investigation, was recently appointed head of the transport police department.
