Uzbekistan Reaches Agreement with Kuwait to Open a Trade House in the Country

During a high-level meeting, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Mishal Al-Sabah agreed to implement a number of joint projects. One key initiative will be the opening of a trade house for Uzbek goods in Kuwait City in the near future, according to the press service of Uzbekistan’s head of state.

The two sides also agreed to establish joint mechanisms such as an Investment Platform and a Business Council. Particular attention was given to expanding the portfolio of projects under the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development as part of a new Partnership Program.

Mirziyoyev, currently on an official visit to Kuwait, praised the successful implementation of the emirate’s Vision 2035 program, noting that its goals align with the long-term priorities of Uzbekistan’s New Development Strategy.

The leaders discussed cooperation in trade, economy, investment, innovation, and finance. Plans are in place to strengthen ties in key areas such as green energy, industry, agriculture, transport and logistics, infrastructure, urban development, healthcare, and tourism.

Additionally, Mirziyoyev and Sheikh Mishal Al-Sabah agreed to hold reciprocal cultural and tourism weeks in Uzbekistan and Kuwait.

The meeting also covered preparations for the upcoming Central Asia – Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit, scheduled to take place in May this year in Samarkand.

Following the high-level talks, the Uzbek president and Kuwaiti emir signed a Joint Declaration on Comprehensive Partnership.
