Former president of the Kazakhstan Football Federation (KFF), Adilet Barmenkulov, is not currently a suspect in the embezzlement case involving the KFF. This was reported by Zakon.kz, citing the Republic's Financial Monitoring Agency (FMA).

“As for Barmenkulov, we have not recognized him as a suspect at this time, and no charges have been brought against him. He has not been held criminally liable,” said Zhenis Yelemesov, Deputy Head of the FMA.

Yelemesov confirmed that an investigation into the embezzlement is ongoing but did not disclose any details of the pretrial proceedings. The agency did not clarify whether searches were conducted at Barmenkulov’s residence or on what legal basis.

At the end of March, Kazakhstan’s Prosecutor General’s Office reported identifying mismanagement and financial violations at the KFF and several football clubs, causing damages amounting to 3 billion tenge (approximately $6 million). Pretrial investigations were launched, and the case involving former officials of the Football Federation was transferred to the Financial Monitoring Agency. However, the Prosecutor General’s Office did not name any specific individuals suspected of wrongdoing.
