Kazakhstan is launching a «golden visa» program, allowing foreign nationals to obtain residency through an investment of at least $300,000 in the charter capital of Kazakh companies or local securities. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan announced the initiative.
Holders of the investor visa will be eligible to apply for a residency permit in Kazakhstan for up to 10 years.
This new policy aims to enhance Kazakhstan's investment appeal and support long-term business partnerships. The Ministry cited the positive experiences of countries in Europe, the United States, the UAE, and Singapore, which have implemented similar visa programs.
«The issuance of 'golden visas' creates a favorable and predictable environment for foreign investors, providing legal guarantees and strengthening confidence in Kazakhstan's investment climate. The initiative reflects the country's strategic focus on openness, capital protection, and the development of sustainable international economic relations,» the ministry explained on April 30.
The program will go into effect 10 days after the official publication of the new rules.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev first announced plans for the «golden visa» program in 2022, in a speech to the nation. The government hopes to attract up to 100 investor-businesspeople annually to the country.
In November 2024, Kazakhstan introduced the Neo Nomad visa for «modern nomads» — foreign tourists who work remotely while traveling. Applicants must prove they have a stable income of at least $3,000 outside of Kazakhstan, provide medical insurance, and submit a criminal background check. Neo Nomad visa holders are permitted to stay in Kazakhstan for up to one year while working for foreign companies.
