Uzatom, Uzbekistan’s nuclear energy agency, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Italian company Ansaldo Energia S.p.A. to establish close cooperation in several areas of the nuclear energy sector, according to a statement from the agency’s press service.
The agreement outlines plans for joint projects aimed at strengthening human resources and scientific-technical capabilities, as well as developing industrial cooperation using the advanced technologies and expertise of the Italian firm.
Uzatom highlighted that its new partners, through one of their subsidiaries, operate across the full spectrum of nuclear activities. Ansaldo Energia places particular emphasis on developing innovative solutions for the design and construction of nuclear power plants, the safe decommissioning of retired facilities, and the management of radioactive waste.
The memorandum was signed during the bilateral talks between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, held on May 29 in Samarkand.
Ansaldo Energia S.p.A. is a leading player in the European energy sector, offering services in the design, manufacture, and supply of equipment, as well as supervision of installation and commissioning, warranty and post-warranty support, maintenance, and modernization of power systems.
