President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov has signed a series of decrees appointing new officials to key regional and municipal posts. The reshuffle includes new mayors for the cities of Tokmok and Karakol, a new district head for Tyup, and a new presidential envoy to the Naryn Region.

Nurbek Satarov has been appointed as the president’s envoy to Naryn Region, replacing Altynbek Ergeshov, who had held the post since July 2022. Ergeshov has now been appointed mayor of Tokmok.

His predecessor, Maksat Nusuvaliev, was dismissed after being detained on June 24 during a meeting attended by the head of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS). The arrest followed numerous complaints from residents about delays and substandard work on the construction of a city park, as well as corruption allegations related to municipal projects.

Kanibek Adiev, previously head of Tyup District in Issyk-Kul Region, has been appointed mayor of Karakol. He has swapped roles with Timur Madyarov, the former mayor, who will now lead Tyup District.
