Uzbekistan Records $37 Billion in Foreign Trade in First Half of 2025

Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover reached $37.02 billion between January and June 2025, according to the National Statistics Committee. This marks an increase of $5.1 billion, or 16.1 percent, compared to the same period in 2024.

Exports totaled $16.89 billion, rising 29.1 percent year-on-year, while imports stood at $20.13 billion, up 7 percent. The trade balance remained negative but improved by $2.5 billion, narrowing the deficit to $3.25 billion.

China remained Uzbekistan’s top trading partner, accounting for 17.7 percent of total trade, or $6.56 billion. Russia followed with $6.03 billion (16.3 percent), followed by Kazakhstan ($2.21 billion), Turkey ($1.34 billion), and South Korea ($837 million).

Gold dominated the export structure, bringing in roughly $6.6 billion. Other significant categories included food products and live animals ($1.21 billion), chemical products ($987 million), mineral fuels ($734 million), and manufactured goods ($698 million).

Services exports continued to grow, totaling $4.06 billion in the first half of 2025—up 29 percent from a year earlier. Of that, 51.8 percent came from tourism, 33.7 percent from transportation, and 8.0 percent from telecommunications and computer services. Services accounted for 24 percent of all exports.

Fruit and vegetable exports surged 40.5 percent year-on-year in value terms, totaling $847.3 million for 1.08 million tons of produce. Fruit accounted for $250.5 million of that, including $71.9 million in cherries, $63 million in dried grapes, as well as apricots, peaches, and other fruits.

Textile exports, however, declined 17 percent year-on-year to $1.27 billion. Within this category, finished products made up 47.8 percent and yarn 32.2 percent.

Uzbekistan’s imports during the reporting period totaled $20.13 billion. Machinery and transportation equipment made up the largest share (32.9 percent), followed by industrial goods (16 percent) and chemical products (12.9 percent). Imports of services rose 30 percent to $2.07 billion, led by travel (55.9 percent), transportation (19.4 percent), and ICT services (9 percent).

Most imports came from China, Russia, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Turkey, Germany, and India. Collectively, these countries accounted for more than two-thirds of Uzbekistan’s total imports.
