Kazakhstan has officially launched production of Samsung televisions and washing machines at the Silk Road Electronics plant in the city of Saran, Karaganda Region, the Ministry of Industry and Construction reported.

The facility will produce Samsung washing machines with SmartThings ecosystem support, as well as high-resolution Smart TV models (Crystal UHD 4K, FHD, and HD). In the future, production of QLED televisions is also planned.

By the end of 2025, the plant expects to manufacture 10,000 televisions and 25,000 washing machines, while the production line’s total capacity is up to 150,000 televisions and 200,000 washing machines annually.

According to the ministry, the project was implemented through a partnership between the government, investors, and business. The new production is expected to create jobs, attract investment, ensure technology transfer, and stimulate the development of related industries.

Silk Road Electronics was launched at the end of 2023 on the site of a former rubber products plant in Saran, with investments totaling 36.2 billion tenge ($67 million). Its shareholders include companies from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Singapore. The enterprise produces washing machines, televisions, boilers, ovens, and vacuum cleaners under the brands Royal, Shuvaki, Vesta, and Artel. In 2025, Silk Road Electronics plans to produce 423,000 units of household appliances, mainly for the domestic market, and by 2028 to reach a capacity of 1.1 million devices per year, part of which will be exported to Central Asia and Mongolia.
