Uzbekistan’s Minister of Agriculture, Ibrohim Abdurakhmonov, held talks with several Chinese companies that resulted in agreements on a series of investment projects. In total, Chinese partners are prepared to invest more than $550 million, according to information posted on the ministry’s Telegram channel.

One key agreement involves the creation of a Uzbek-Chinese Innovation Center in Jizzakh Region. The $400 million project is slated to begin its first construction phase in early 2026. A 30-hectare plot of land has already been allocated. The complex is expected to promote the development of modern agriculture in Uzbekistan, while also strengthening ties in culture and tourism.

China Broad Future Tobacco International Import and Export Trading plans to cultivate and process tobacco in Uzbekistan. The cooperation will involve farmland in Khorezm, Samarkand, and Tashkent regions, where about 2,000 hectares will be planted in partnership with local farmers. Construction of a tobacco plant, with an annual processing capacity of up to 3,000 tons, is scheduled to begin next year. Under the memorandum of cooperation signed between the Chinese company and Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Agriculture, investment in the project will total $150 million.

Abdurakhmonov also held talks with Jiangsu World Agricultural Machinery and Aladdin Holdings Group. The parties discussed establishing a joint venture in Kashkadarya Region to produce cotton harvesters and other agricultural machinery. Investors further proposed a project to grow high-yield cotton based on Chinese expertise, with around 30,000 hectares of farmland across several regions earmarked for use.
