Uzbekistan has officially joined the Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children, becoming the 46th member of the initiative, UNICEF Uzbekistan announced on its Telegram channel.
The international organization, which plays a key role in the partnership, noted progress made by Uzbekistan in protecting children’s rights. In particular, it cited the adoption in May of a law on protecting children from all forms of violence. The country is also working on a cross-sectoral strategy and an action plan for 2025–2035.
“UNICEF is proud to be a partner of the Government of Uzbekistan in these efforts. Together, we will work to ensure that every child grows up in a safe and supportive environment — at home, at school, and in society,” the organization’s office in Uzbekistan said.
Uzbekistan’s intention to join the partnership was first announced in May at an event in Tashkent attended by UNICEF representatives.
At the time, Shakhnoza Mirziyoyeva, first deputy director of the National Agency for Social Protection, stated that every child must be protected from violence in all its forms.
“In this world, there are no ‘other people’s’ children — just as there is no such thing as someone else’s child’s pain. We call on everyone to pay attention to the ‘great pain of little hearts’ and give children the opportunity to be heard. They have the right to speak,” she said.
The Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children is a public–private structure that brings together UN agencies, governments, businesses, regional bodies, activists, and leaders. Its goal is to make the world safe for children.
