The meeting also concluded with the formal announcement that Uzbekistan will assume the chairmanship of the ADB Board of Governors for 2025–2026. Jamshid Khodjaev has been confirmed as chair.
This appointment is described by the MIIT as clear evidence of the high level of trust placed in Uzbekistan by leading international financial institutions.
Additionally, it was unanimously agreed that the next ADB Board of Governors meeting will be held in Samarkand in May 2026.
ℹ️ Uzbekistan became a member of the ADB in 1995, with a country office opening three years later. Since then, the total amount of loans, grants, and technical assistance provided to the country has exceeded $14 billion.
