On July 8, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Alexander Dyukov, Chairman of the Management Board of Gazprom Neft, according to the presidential press service.
During the talks, the two sides reviewed forward-looking plans for mutually beneficial cooperation in the oil and gas sector, building on a previously agreed-upon roadmap.
Special attention was given to the implementation of joint projects in the following areas:
👉 geological exploration,
👉 development of complex oil fields,
👉 digitalization of the industry,
👉 training of in-demand specialists for the sector.
Earlier that day, Mirziyoyev also held a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. They discussed strengthening strategic partnership, implementing bilateral agreements, advancing trade and economic ties, and preparations for the upcoming autumn session of the Council of Regions. The presidents also exchanged views on international issues and the schedule of forthcoming events.
Gazprom Neft plans to expand its presence in Uzbekistan. In 2023, the company reached an agreement with Uzbekneftegaz to jointly develop the Shurtan field. In 2024, it coordinated a further action plan with Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy. The Russian firm has long been supplying Uzbekistan with oil and petroleum products and also plans to launch a branded network of gas stations.
Additionally, Gazprom Neft offers well services and digital drilling management technologies, which are expected to reduce well construction time for Uzbekneftegaz by 20 percent.
In May 2024, Russia and Uzbekistan officially adopted a roadmap to expand cooperation between Gazprom Neft and Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy. The document was signed following talks between the two presidents in Tashkent.
