Uzbek and Russian Troops to Hold Joint Drills at Termez Training Ground

From July 15 to 21, joint Russian-Uzbek tactical exercises titled Khamkorlik-2025 will be held at the Termez training ground. Soldiers and officers from Russia’s 201st Military Base of the Central Military District have already arrived at the site, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The ministry reported that Russian military units completed a cross-border convoy operation, traveling over 300 kilometers through the mountainous terrain of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to reach the site.

“Troops navigated steep inclines, descents, and narrow mountain passes in BTR-82A armored personnel carriers, URAL trucks, and specialized KAMAZ-based vehicles,” the ministry said.

During the live exercises, both countries’ military personnel will practice unit coordination and engagement tactics for detecting and eliminating small illegal armed groups that have breached the state border.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the Russian contingent will include mountain and assault units, electronic warfare mobile teams, and drone crews operating reconnaissance UAVs and FPV drones. An aviation unit flying Mi-24 attack helicopters will also participate in the drills.

Russia’s 201st Military Base, the country’s largest military installation abroad, is permanently stationed in Tajikistan, with forces based in the cities of Dushanbe and Bokhtar. The base comprises motor rifle, tank, artillery, and reconnaissance units, along with air defense, NBC (nuclear, biological, chemical) protection, and communications forces.
