Uzbekistan’s delegation has successfully completed bilateral negotiations with Canada and Panama as part of its accession process to the World Trade Organization (WTO). Protocols were signed following the 11th meeting of the Working Party on Uzbekistan’s WTO membership, according to Azizbek Urunov, Uzbekistan’s presidential representative for WTO affairs.
Urunov expressed gratitude to the Canadian and Panamanian delegations for their constructive participation in the accession process.
Reportedly, Uzbekistan now remains in negotiations with only three additional countries to complete its accession process.
Uzbekistan applied for WTO membership in 1994 and resumed formal accession efforts in 2017 after a hiatus.
Completion of these bilateral agreements brings Tashkent closer to full WTO membership ahead of the 14th Ministerial Conference scheduled for March 2026 in Cameroon.
